Academy Awards Oscar Night Craft Party

Sunday, February 22, 2015

My family and I are big fans of the movies! We are even having our own Oscars viewing party. I had to make something fun today to get us into the spirit of the Academy Awards.

Here's what I came up with...

I think little Oscar would be so proud of my creation too. This one was easy to make. You can even get the kiddos involved.

You only need a few supplies:

1. Scrapbook paper
2. dies or any kind of container
3. A "star" embellishment
4. Coffee filters
5. Buttered popcorn

Here's a close up of the basket. I made it using these berry basket dies and my manual cutting machine.

Be sure to add a coffee filter so that the buttered popcorn won't drip on your pretty creation.

I used more dies to create the circle and star. You gotta have a star for Academy Awards night!

Again, this project only took minutes to make. Your family and friends will love it!

Who are you hoping will win tonight? I've got so many favorites. I still need to see "Birdman" and "Still Alice". I hear that Micheal Keaton and Julianne Moore are great in their roles.

Craft Product Review: Wink of Stella Brushes

Thursday, February 19, 2015

I love to try new things, especially when I'm crafting! I recently got the opportunity to try the Wink of Stella Brush Pens on one of my new craft projects.

I used it in a fun way to make my own embellishment. Here's the finished project!

What's the deal with these brushes anyway? Well, they act just like a fine paint brush. They come with a nylon brush tip that can produce thick or thin lines of glitter.

I wanted to do something different with the pens. I've had these wood pieces in my stash for a while. I decided to jazz them up a bit with the brushes.

I used the silver color. It worked great on the wood and left a smooth and shiny finish.

Did you notice the finished wood piece on the front of my mini popcorn jar?
I love how it looks!

Here are some tips and tidbits for ya:

1. Squeeze the pen lightly. Pressing too much can make a mess!
2. Brush your surface lightly for a smooth finish.
3. It dries quickly and doesn't leave messy smudges.
4. It leaves a nice shimmer that will make your project "shine".
5. They come in a variety of colors.

I'll be putting these little jars to good use. They will be used as party favors this weekend!

Be sure to hop over to The Little Blue House for more Wink of Stella project ideas!

Project Life Instagram Style

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

I'm super addicted to Instagram! I love taking photos and documenting the fun things that I do around town. I even started a Project Life album to document my year.

Here is a new page that I've added to the album:

I had so many goodies left from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge collection . The paper can be easily be cut to fit into your pocket pages. I even added some fun embellishments to each square too!

Please let me know in the comments section below if you are on Instagram. I'd love to follow you there! Be sure to check mine out here!

I'm linking up with fabulous crew at Paper Issues!

Also, you can order this fabulous collection in The Little Blue House store.

Love Pink Valentine's Day Treat Bags

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Valentine's Day is coming! I thought it would be fun to make treat bags that are full of pink goodness!

And I've even added something sweet to my crafty bags too!

I dressed up these glassine bags with the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge collection along with doilies and a variety of embellishments.

I'm addicted to dies and love to use them on my projects. I used the We R Memory Keepers polaroid frame dies . The glassine bags are from SRM Stickers.

Last Minute Craft Gift

Monday, February 9, 2015

Have you ever been caught needing a last minute gift? That's what happened to me this weekend.

There are always enough supplies to whip up "a quick something" when you are a crafter! Here's what I came up with!

I started out with this kraft box that I picked up from Michael's.
It comes in a fun 3" x 3" size.

Guess what? I dressed this box up with a Project Life card. These cards can serve a variety of purposes outside of scrapbooking.

I used a card from the Peace, Love, and Sunshine kit

I also used a butterfly punch to create my own little embellishment. A pop-dot was used on the butterfly to add dimension to the top.

Quick and easy and it took less than 5 minutes to whip up!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow! I've got a fun "Love Bug" project for ya!

Flash Friday with the Blue Crew

Friday, February 6, 2015

It's Flash Friday ya'll! This is a fun challenge that originated with the Blue Crew over at The Little Blue House!

The LBH Media Team has a virtual craft session on the first Friday of every month. The challenge was to complete a layout in 30 minutes or less!

Here's my page! (I took this one out of the pocket photo sleeves to reduce the glare).

I decided to create another Project Life page. This type of pocket-page scrapbooking is PERFECT when you are in a time crunch. This page can be made in a flash.

I completed another page for my Comic Con album. There were so many people dressed in fun costumes. We even got to meet some celebrities too!

I used a mix of Teresa Collins Studio Gold with Heidi Swapp's Project Life products.

And my daughter Rachel was lucky enough to meet this guy! Isn't he handsome?

His name is Charles Michael Davis and he stars in the CW show - "The Originals"

Would you like to "Flash" with us next month? Be sure to hop on over to The Little Blue House and leave a comment on today's post. You will also be able to see all of the fun projects and participants of this month's Flash Challenge!

Project Life: Comic Con Style

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

This past summer I had the pleasure of attending Comic Con in San Diego. What is Comic Con you ask? It is a HUGE convention that showcases everything from comics, movies, and television shows.

Every year that I've attended I have met my fave celebrities from television and movies. If you follow me on Instagram then you have seen all of the celebs that I got to meet and take photos with.

Here is my first page commemorating my fun times at this event!

Here are a few close up shots. I ordered my photo prints from Kanvess. I love their 3" x 3" size.

I made the super hero using my Silhouette Cameo. The super boy cut file is one of my faves!

Here's how it looks in the photo sleeve! I used the 8.5 x 11 photo sleeves from We R Memory Keepers. I love doing pages in this size. It makes it quick and easy to complete my albums.

Be sure to stop back by again on Friday! I'll be featuring another page from Comic Con!
