Burlap Bag Friday

Friday, January 31, 2014

I just love the new line of burlap and muslin bags from SRM Stickers.

Today I'd like to show you some fun way to dress them up.

They are so perfect for gifting!

My first bag features the We've Got Your Border Pastel stickers.

I also placed a sticker from this same set underneath the butterfly.

I used the new Take 2: Stickers By the Dozen - Birthday on my second bag.

And check out the green twine. You can also find it in the SRM shop.

You can use these bags in so many ways!

They are perfect for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, or any type of gifting.

Tips for crafting with burlap bags:

1. Staples are great to hold your embellishments to the bag.
{I stapled underneath the layers so that they are not visible on top}

2. Fabric glue is also great to use.

I'm linking this up to the Paper Issues Challenge - Fill 'Er Up!

A Sweet Valentine's Day Gift

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

I love making gift card holders for Valentine's Day Gifting!

It is the perfect little gift for teens and college students too!

I made this using a fun die from Lifestyle Crafts.

Did you know that Lifestyle Crafts' is in partnership with We Are Memory Keepers?

You can always save 20% on your entire order at shopwer.com
using my special promo code: COKIE.

I used this Lifestyle Crafts die to make the holder. Of course I used some fun and colorful Imaginisce paper.

Also, have you seen the new "Welcome Spring" collection from Imaginisce? It has the cutest little owl with a heart. It's so perfect for Valentine's Day crafting.

I added pop dots to the back of a die-cut card and placed it on the front. It adds a bit of dimension that way. I also added an Imaginisce button, a gem, and a felt heart to dress it up a bit.

The holder is also big enough to add small candy for an extra added treat!

For more info be sure to check out the 2014 Imaginisce products here!

For Your Sweet Little Girl

Monday, January 27, 2014

Have you seen the new My Baby collection from Imaginisce?

It is super sweet and adorable for both little girls and boys. Here's a new gift set that I made with it.

This paper collection comes in both girl and boy designs. I used the baby girl goodies on my card and gift box. I just love the dimensional stickers.

The entire collection has great patterned paper. I also love that it has a variety of designs that come decorated with elephants, giraffes, hippos, and bunnies.

The soft pink looks great set against a kraft box. And check out the Imaginisce gems on the front. Every girl needs a little bling right?

Christmas is out and Valentine's Day is in! That's what I thought about the other day as I browsed through the Target aisles. The store shelves are stocked full of lovey dovey goodness.

Seeing all of that inspiration made me want to start making my own Valentine's Day crafts.

Papa - The Gentle Soul

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Hello everyone!

I am here to share a very special page with you from Scrapbooking From The Inside Out.

I'm also throwing in another tip to use as you create using January's emotion - "Empathy"!

What is empathy anyway?

It is defined as:
- The feeling that you understand and share another person's experiences and emotions.

There are so many people around us that have the keen ability to show empathy towards others. I am around people all the time. Sometimes you don't notice certain character traits right away. When I study and observe people that are close to me, I often see moments of caring shining through. These people are what I call "gentle souls".

This page is a prime example of this.

And here's a tip for you - Be mindful of choosing just the right photo for your page. The photo can help you express the emotions and feelings of your page.

For example, I purposely used a black and white photo. I believe that it helps express the softness of this gentle moment.

My cutie pie nephew is a miracle baby. My sister and her husband have been married for 15 years. They have gone through the terrible loss of three miscarriages.

What is really touching is how my dad has impacted my sister and brother-in-law with care and concern all through the pregnancy and beyond. He is a "Mr. Mom" with heart!

And don't forget about your journaling. Use embellishments around it to make it one of the focal points of your page.

I encourage you to make more layouts about people that have impacted your life in some way. The SFTIO kit has wonderful paper and embellishments that will make your page special for years to come.

Insightful Me!

Thursday, January 9, 2014

I'm finally sharing my first layout for 2014!

This time I used the fabulous kit from Scrapbooking From the Inside Out.

SFTIO is an inspirational source, kit club, and online community for scrappers. It's great to scrap about others, but sometimes we need to turn the focus on ourselves. These kits will help you on your journey as you create pages about your thoughts, hopes, and dreams.

Each SFTIO kit has an emotion behind it. January's emotion is - Empathy.

I created four layouts this month based around this theme. I chose to show this one first to give you a grasp at how you can begin making pages that follow your journey through 2014.

I have one bit of advice if you are new to this type of scrapping - "Breathe and enjoy the journey!"

To make a page of your own is a sweet process. First, take a hold of the emotion "empathy" and let it sink in for a moment. After that, grab a thesaurus and look up the word.

I found several synonyms that really hit home for me:
- compassion
- insight
- comprehension
- rapport

One of these words really stood out for me. It was the word "insight". To really feel empathy for another person I need to gain insight into what they are really feeling.

Once you get your page together be sure to add a bit of journaling. Keep the emotion in mind as you write. And be sure to write from the heart.

Turning Scraps Into Sweet Gifts

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Today is an exciting day!

It's my very first official project for Imaginisce!

(I'd love it if you'd pop on over there and leave me some crafty love.)

http://www.imaginisceblog.com/

Here's the crafty question for the day...

Do you hold onto your paper scraps? I sure do!

I never want to get rid of my Imaginisce scraps. The paper is too bright and happy to just toss away. I've been busy stocking up on handmade gifts that I've made for my fellow teachers.

I found this mini chalkboard at my local craft store. I began to dress it up by placing paper around the frame. I then ran some scraps through my die-cutter and made a flower. I layered pieces and added it to the bottom of the frame. I also added an Imaginisce sticker to the top of the board.

This gift would not be complete without a handmade card. I combined both Imaginisce and American Crafts products for this happy design.

Stay tuned to the blog for more new Imaginisce projects!
I can't wait to show you the new goodies for 2014!

Supplies:
Imaginisce: patterned papers (Endless Summer, Falling Leaves Bushel O' Fall)
Imaginisce: Just Be Little Icons
Imaginisce: Colors of Christmas Bling
American Crafts: Everyday collection - pretty bows
American Crafts: Thickers
Dies: Lifestyle Crafts

*And please keep reading to see who won the We R Memory Keepers/Lifestyle Crafts giveaway!*

I'm popping in today to to show you why I just love SRM StickersThere are also some new SRM products to tell ya about!

The "We've Got Your Number" sets are so fun. They are great to use for holiday and special occasion gifting.

Here's a Valentine's Day treat bag that I made using some of the larger and smaller number stickers.

Did you know that the smaller numbers are great for dressing up your embellishments? I placed the number "14" on a mini clothespin and added it to the bag.

And here I used the larger numbers in the middle of a doily embellishment.

You can really get creative and use them in a variety of ways.

I also used some adorable Valentine's Day Stickers on this bag too.

You can find all of these goodies in the SRM store!
