Etsy Inspired #132 - Fresh Metal Jewelry

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to another fun-filled Etsy Inspired Challenge.

Our featured shop this week is:

This shop is full of vintage necklaces and brooches that are made of eye catching fabric.

I actually made a LAYOUT for my inspiration piece this week. The photo is an old one of Rachel & her friends when they were in Brownies together. (She is on the far right). I was inspired by all of the blue, teal, and turquoise flowered jewelry pictured on this post.

I'm a teacher and have so much used notebook paper lying around at home and at school. I also love to recycle. Instead of throwing a piece of old notebook paper away I actually used it on my layout.

I am also linking this up at Frosted Designs for their Fabulous Friday Challenge!

The title "Friends" is actually made of Real Wood and it's made by K & Company. I also added small green pearls from Prima to the cirlces in the page. I used a fabric flower on my layout that was inspired by this shop. You can see it here.

Here is another pretty from Fresh Metal Jewelry.

Spring is definately in the air!
I'm playing with Color and Kraft today and created this card.

I'm linking this up over at The Kraft Journal for their "Oh Baby, It's Spring" Challenge.

I kept a CAS design and added some fun details to really make the color POP against the Kraft background. The silhouette was cut out of patterned paper from Creativity Inc. I also added orange felt trim to add a different texture.

Here's a close-up shot of the sparkly flower and sentiment.

Hope you all have a Happy Weekend!

We are a SMILING kind of family.
People often comment on how much we SMILE!

I made a layout of 3 of my fave photos of Rachel and I. And look at my short hair-do. I've been contemplating whether to go short or keep growing it longer. Whatdya think?

I used this fab sketch from Sketchy Thursdays!

And check out the Canvas Borders that I used. I love mixing paper & canvas.
And the flower adds some sweetness!

I won some SRM Stickers from Virginia.
I used them along with a mix of Foam Letters for the title.

I'll be back on Wednesday with another FUN layout.

Vinyl & Canvas Tutorial for Papercraft Star!

Friday, March 18, 2011

Hello fellow crafters. I LOVE to make altered projects. I have a tutorial for you today that can add fun to any room in your home. It's great for gift giving too. And....it only takes 10 minutes to make. How cool is that?

Did you know that Vinyl and Canvas are so fun to play with? Let me show you how...

Here are the materials you will need:

1. Vinyl - I got mine at Michael's Craft Store. Vinyl is also available at Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart, and your local scrapbook store.

2. Canvas - I also purchased it at Michael's Craft Store. I used a 9" x 12" stretched canvas.

3. Ribbon - I used some with a fun design on it. It's from American Crafts.

I used some fun vinyl from Hip In a Hurry. Love their stuff.

Directions:

1. Carefully remove the clear backing from your vinyl.

2. Apply it where you'd like on your canvas.

3. Rub the vinyl onto the canvas with a popsicle stick or old credit card to release the air bubbles.

4. Add some fun ribbon or other embellishments.

5. Hang on your favorite wall or give as a gift.

It's a fun easy peasy project that you can even get your kiddos involved in.

Here's how my creation turned out:

Hope you all enjoyed this Easy Peasy Tutorial.
If you create something with vinyl or canvas please let me know.
I'd love to visit your blog and check out your creation.

St. Patty's Day Fun!

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

I'm not blogging much this week due to the sad loss of my dear sweet cousin and to take a much needed rest during Spring Break.

I pre-scheduled this post to share with you about the St. Patty's Day challenge we have going on over at Papercraft Star this week.

Here's the inspiration:
Create a St. Patrick's Day inspired project using this photograph.

I was inspired by to make a 'St. Patrick's Day' Fun Cup and a 'Cloverleaf " Mini Card this week. I found the green cup at my local Super Target store and added fun embellies from Michael's Craft Store to dress it up. These cups would be great as party favors or for kid craft days.

Here's a close-up of "Mr. Leprechaun". Isn't he cute?
I added some fuzzy fun behind his face for some extra added cuteness. :)

This cup originally came with a straw.
I took it out and added this cluster of St. Patty's Day goodies.

And I finished this project off with a sparkly "Mini Cloverleaf Card".

I have also pre-scheduled a fun Vinyl & Canvas Tutorial that I did for Papercraft Star. Hope you will check that out later this week! I'll be back to visit all of your wonderful blogs soon. Have a Happy Week!

I'm also linking this up at:

Project Supplies:
Green Cup (Target Corporation); St. Patty's Day Embellishements (Celebrate It - Michael's Craft Store); Green Polka Dot Ribbon (Celebrate It); Cardstock (Bazzill)

You Are So...

Friday, March 11, 2011

Here's another fun creation before the weekend starts.

This one is for the Moxie Fab - Tuesday Trigger:
"Oh So Lovely" Challenge

I titled this card - "You Are So..."
and added fun sentiments
(michevious, adventurous, brilliant, tried & true)

I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration.
I also added a cute birdie, some fun trim & a flower embellie. :)

I'm off to count down the hours until Spring Break begins. My students are sooo ready for the last class to end for the day! (So am I!!!!) :) Have a Happy Weekend!

Card Supplies:
Cardstock (Bazzill); Patterned Paper (Bo Bunny - Ad Lib Cutouts); Chipboard Bird (My Mind's Eye - Fine & Dandy); Chipboard Flower (Bo Bunny - Petal Pushers); Die-Cut Titles (K & Company); Trim (Bo Bunny)

Orange, Yellow, and Kraft Yummies!

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Two more work days then we are off for Spring Break. Yay! Yay! Yay! I am so excited that we are having a week off that a big burst of creative energy hit me last night. Here's one of my new cards.

I've been wanting to enter Mona's challenges at CR84FN for a long time.
I finally got a chance to play!

Here are the beautiful colors:

I actually cut out the scallop top of a kraft envelope and added it to the front of the card. You know I had to add a flower as well. :)

I also love these K & Company die-cuts. This bird cage is one of my faves. And it's just the right color.

And since my card also has a shabby spring feel to it I'm also linking this up at The Kraft Journal.

See ya back here tomorrow for another new card! :)

Card Supplies:
Kraft Cardstock (Recollections); Bingo card, Birdcage, flower, frame die-cuts (K & Company); Flower (Recollections)

Stop & Smell the Flowers!

I loovvveee Spring!
This week we are celebrating Springtime over at Papercraft Star.

Here are the challenge details:

Create a papercraft project using one or more of these colors
 and Spring as your inspiration.

I drew from the "green" color as my springtime inspiration for this challenge. I made a fun pocket card. They are great for gift giving.

I also added a journal card and pen to the inside of the pocket. Look at the "green" butterfly. It's a dimensional sticker that I adhered to the top of the pen. You can also add a gift card to the inside too. :)

We've got a great sponsor and prize up for grabs. Michelle's Scrapbooking & More is our Monthly sponsor. And don't forget we have new deadlines for our linky - Sunday 9PM (Eastern US) submissions close. Voting closes on Tuesday at 6AM (Eastern US).

I also wanted to give a big shout out to my fellow PCS design team member - Kim Duran

I won this shabby crinkled seam binding ribbon from her Etsy shop. She knew my fave color is yellow and threw in some of that color too along with some flower goodies. Thanks soooo much Kim! To see her beautiful Etsy shop - Paper Loves Glue - click HERE.

And...I wanted to enter my pocket card over at the Kraft Journal for their fun "Spring Fling" challenge. :)

Supplies Used:
Kraft Pocket (Maya Road); Patterned Paper (Basic Grey); Journal Tag (Anna Griffin); Flower (Martha Stewart Crafts); Misc. Stickers (from stash)
